On a warm mid-August morning, Aurora and her brother Teodoro are on a boat trip through the Po Delta, the most important river in Italy. Avid birdwatchers, they’re heading with their grandparents and a handful of other tourists toward the legendary Oasis of the Pink Flamingos.

But when they arrive, they discover something astonishing: the flamingos aren’t pink at all. They’re yellow, blue, orange, green… Everyone, including the tour guide, stares in disbelief. What on earth has happened?

To make things worse, Ubaldo and Leopoldo—a pair of bumbling hunters—start spreading panic, determined to capture the birds. With such strange colors, they’re just too… different to be left free! Aurora and Teodoro try to explain that the colorful flamingos don’t seem dangerous at all, but the adults won’t listen. Just then, a boy named Raffo appears. He’s tall, sunburned, with long hair, and he points them toward a mysterious lighthouse standing in the middle of the lagoon, a place that’s supposedly been inhabited by someone for a while. Raffo is convinced the answer to the mystery of the flamingos lies inside.

And so, the three kids set off, winding through maze-like reeds, swaying bridges, and endless sandy deserts, sometimes helped and sometimes hindered by the animals that inhabit the region. Will they reach the lighthouse? Who is Raffo, really? Why does he seem to know this place like the back of his hand?

But above all: why have the flamingos changed color?

色彩诞生的绿洲

在八月中旬一个炎热的清晨，奥罗拉和弟弟特奥多罗乘船游览波河三角洲，波河是意大利最重要的河流。作为观鸟爱好者，他们正与爷爷奶奶以及其他游客，前往传说中的“粉红火烈鸟绿洲”。

然而抵达后，他们发现栖息在此的火烈鸟并非粉红色，而是黄、蓝、橙、绿等各种颜色……所有人都惊呆了，连导游也困惑不已：究竟发生了什么？更糟的是，笨手笨脚的猎人乌巴尔多和莱奥波尔多开始制造恐慌，他们要想方设法捕捉这些色彩奇异的鸟类：“它们的颜色太古怪了，绝对不能放任自流！”

奥罗拉和特奥多罗试图解释彩色火烈鸟看起来一点也不危险，但大人们根本听不进去。就在这时，一个名叫拉福的高个子男孩出现了，他留着长发，皮肤被太阳晒得黝黑。拉福指着泻湖中央一座神秘的灯塔，告诉姐弟俩说最近那里似乎住着什么人，他确信火烈鸟变色的秘密一定就藏在那里。

三个孩子就此踏上旅程，他们穿越迷宫般的芦苇荡、摇摆的木桥和无边的沙砾荒漠，有时能得到在此栖息的动物的帮助，有时又遭遇阻挠。他们能抵达灯塔吗？拉福究竟是谁？为何他对这片区域了如指掌？最重要的是：火烈鸟为什么会变色？
