Paris: Eccellenze italiane. Figure per Italo Calvino

On the occasion of the next edition of the Festival du Livre de Pari (20-23 April 2023), whose guest of honour is Italy, the exhibition Eccellenze italiane. Figure per Italo Calvino will be presented to the Parisian public in the Grand Palais Éphèmere. Promoted by the Emilia Romagna Region and the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, it is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and has been produced by the Accademia Drosselmeier/Cooperativa Giannino Stoppani.

One hundred years after his birth, the exhibition pays tribute to Italo Calvino with 122 plates – two for each illustrator – inspired by his literary production. These include contributions from thirty established artists (Fabian Negrin, Alessandro Sanna, Roger Olmos, Emanuele Luzzati, Desideria Guicciardini, Giulia Orecchia, etc.) and the thirty winners of an international competition promoted by the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, open to candidates from all over the world and based on the characters and themes of Calvino’s novels.

The exhibition catalogue, in a bilingual edition (Italian-English), is published by Mondadori.
