Ernesto e Elia sono gemelli e si inseguono in una specie di lontananza ravvicinata senza riuscire a toccarsi, come fossero rette parallele; Sarabanda e Speedy, i loro genitori, invece non la smettono di allontanarsi neanche quando credono di starsi vicino. E così Daniele Petruccioli ci conduce su e giù per le generazioni che si succedono in case dove le persone crescono, vivono, muoiono, traslocano e che sono forse le uniche vere custodi di una memoria che facciamo di tutto per rimuovere, ma permane ostinata.
Daniele Petruccioli è nato a Roma e fa il traduttore di opere letterarie. Ha pubblicato articoli e saggi sulla traduzione, tra cui Le pagine nere (La Lepre 2017), e il romanzo La casa delle madri (TerraRossa Edizioni 2020, selezionato nella dozzina del Premio Strega); nel 2022 è uscito per Tetra il racconto Sotto la città.

The twins Ernesto and Elia are chasing each other at a close range, without ever being able to touch, just as if they were parallel lines. Their parents Sarabanda and Speedy, on the other hand, never stop moving apart from each other, even when they think they are close. Daniele Petruccioli takes us on a trip back and forth through the sequence of generations who dwell in houses where people grow up, live, die, move away. Houses that, perhaps, are the only true guardians of the memory we all strive to eradicate, but instead stubbornly remains.Motherhome explores the uncertain balance which bumpy family relationships are based upon. It is also the debut of a narrative voice who can charm the readers, and ensnare them in a restrained and powerful prose.
Daniele Petruccioli, born in Rome, works as a translator of literary works. He has published articles and essays on the art of translation, among them: Le pagine nere (la Lepre 2017), and the novel La casa delle madri (TerraRossa Edizioni 2020, nominated in the top twelve of the Premio Strega award), in 2022 he published the short story Sotto la città with Tetra.
Daniele Petruccioli nació en Roma y es traductor de obras literarias. Ha publicado artículos y ensayos sobre traducción, entre los que se incluyen Las páginas negras (La Lepre, 2017), y la novela La casa de las madres (TerraRossa Edizioni, 2020, seleccionada entre las doce finalistas del Premio Strega); en 2022 se publicó en la editorial Tetra el relato Bajo la ciudad.
