Per anni, il condor Coco si era preso cura del villaggio, leggendo ogni giorno il giornale che arrivava dalla pianura. Era l’unico che sapesse leggere. La piccola capibara Nanà sarebbe diventata la sua erede, perché lui le aveva insegnato a leggere. Un giorno triste, però, scoppiò la guerra. Coco, insieme a tutti quelli che potevano combattere, fu costretto a lasciare il villaggio. Nanà fece una promessa a Coco: si sarebbe presa cura del villaggio, leggendo i giornali ogni giorno. Tuttavia, pochi giorni dopo, il giornale smise di arrivare. Nanà non voleva venir meno alla sua promessa. Così decise di raccogliere le notizie più belle dai vecchi giornali. E più il resto del villaggio la ascoltava, più cominciava a sperare. Che il tempo della paura e della guerra stesse per finire. Finché, un giorno… la guerra finì davvero.

For years, the Condor Coco had taken care of the village, reading the newspaper that arrived from the clearance every day. He was the only one who could read. Little Capybara Nanà will be his successor, as he taught her to read. One sad day, the war began. Coco, with all those who could fight, had to leave the village. Nanà made a promise to Coco: she would take care of the village, reading the newspapers every day. However, a few days later, the newspaper stopped coming. Nanà didn’t want to break her promise. So, she decided to collect the best news from the old newspapers. And the more the rest of the village listened to her, the more they began to hope. That the time of fear and war was coming to an end. Till, one day… the war really did end.
