Chicago: Giovanni Boccaccio on the 650th anniversary of his death

The year 2025 marks the 650th anniversary of the death of Giovanni Boccaccio (1313-1375), author of the Decameron and a key figure in the tradition of Italian and European narrative prose. To commemorate this important milestone, the American Boccaccio Association (founded in 1974) and the Newberry Library, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago, will celebrate the Certaldo-born author with a series of academic events from 16 to 20 September 2025.
