La magnifica illusione. New York 1938
by Tota, Alessandro
Through a romantic fresco populated by artists and immigrants, Alessandro Tota recounts the golden age of comic books and the birth of a veritable industry. At the end of the 1930s, young Roberta Miller flees the Kansas countryside, made inhospitable by the Great Depression. She arrives in New York, the city where anything is possible, and there she frequents communists and illegal cabarets. She writes stories about detectives, beautiful women and masked superheroes. She experiences glory, abundance and love… while trying not to starve to death.
