Orti

Orti is the second work published by Edizioni Segni d’Autore, after Vetri, by Alberto Lavoradori, Disney’s PK illustrator. Orti is a colour book in landscape format, with a story set in a post-apocalyptic Venice and its lagoon. The Mother of Gems, part woman and part tree, has a specific task: to perpetuate life. Everything becomes complicated when an infamous traitor reveals the place where this elegant but indecipherable being is born and draws its lifeblood, namely, the sunny gardens of San Francesco della Vigna, an ancient church in the Castello district. As in any self-respecting story, divided between shadows and light, demons and celestial creatures, if there are those who do not look kindly on the attitude towards life, there are those who, whatever the cost, are determined to protect it.
