Il sé digitale. Dai neuroni specchio alla mediazione tecnologica

by Gallese, Vittorio
Il sé digitale. Dai neuroni specchio alla mediazione tecnologica

In a world where artificial intelligence generates faces, voices and presences capable of simulating empathy, the digital self explores the heart of an anthropological transformation currently underway. Drawing on the neuroscience of embodiment and the now-classic theory of embodied simulation, Vittorio Gallese constructs a new paradigm for thinking about contemporary subjectivity. From mirror neurons to algorithmic subjectivity, this book charts an original and multidisciplinary path spanning neuroscience, philosophy, aesthetics and media theory to rethink the self as an embodied, relational and technologically modulated reality. The Digital Self proposes a new onto-phenomenology of the subject, capable of integrating the transformations of experience introduced by interactive devices, artificial intelligence and immersive digital environments. The body is not excluded, but reconfigured; otherness is not annulled, but rendered ambiguous by new affective simulacra. The theoretical culmination of the volume is the proposal of a radical aesthetics: a politics of feeling, which restores intensity, opacity and unpredictability to relationships in a world dominated by transparent interfaces and predictive algorithms. At a time when otherness risks becoming a function, and withdrawal into solitude a project, the urgent need is to return to thinking about the body, not as nostalgia, but as the generative condition of every possible future. An essential essay for understanding the metamorphoses of the self in the age of code.
