It’s 1932: Rosa, a young country woman, suffers violence at the hands of the son of the landowner for whom she and her family work. From the rape a girl is born, Maria, which Rosa must abandon in a convent ten days after her birth. After giving her baby girl away, the woman is forced by circumstances to go into service in a prominent family in Salerno, where she will become the nanny of their children. She will dedicate herself to these children soul and body, and she will love them unconditionally enough to sacrifice  her love for Patrick, an English military known in the autumn of 1943. Nonetheless, the sweet memories of this man and the heartbreaking pain of having abandoned her dear baby daughter, Mary, will always remain in Rosa’s heart.
