Bestie in fuga

by Kong, Daniele
Bestie in fuga

The late 1950s. Lost in the Tyrrhenian Sea, the island of Dieci seems impervious to the economic boom that has begun to change the face of Italy. Franco and Marcello, on the threshold of adulthood, are about to surrender to an unchangeable destiny that wants them to be fishermen. But everything is turned upside down by the arrival of the film crew of Augusto Campagnoli, a neorealist director in decline, and his daughter Claretta, a restless teenager on the run from the capital. The producers’ goal is to shoot a film about the life of Jesus, but also to rescue Dieci from oblivion and make it as glamorous as Capri. Between Bianciardi, Flaiano and the great Italian comedy, Daniele Kong makes a dazzling debut, which is also a satire on mass tourism and a model of development that creates unsustainable desires, drawing a microcosm of unforgettable characters hungry for life.
