Come la luna. La ragazza che voleva mostrare il suo sorriso
by Giannini MaurizioIn a Middle Eastern village, in an unspecified year, twelve-year-old Mahin finds a way to not wear the chador for a few days, thus violating the rules dictated by Islam. The veil that all women no longer children wear to hide their faces and therefore their feelings is a real imposition for Mahin, just as not being able to attend school like boys and feel equal to them is. It certainly won’t be easy to break the rules. However, thanks to her courage, initiative, and the help of her paternal grandmother, she manages to do so, but she encounters a series of troubles that even lead her to risk going to jail. It’s a wonderful story, engaging and full of insights and reflections.
