The Salvador Allende municipal nursery and preschool in Reggio Emilia have their “hearts on their sleeves”: a vital, changing heart that oxygenates the eyes of children and adults alike. It is the nursery and school playground. This book, rich in images, drawings and works by the children who have lived in and transformed the Allende Playground over the years, aims not only to recount many different experiences of learning, but also and above all to serve as a starting point for viewing and designing outdoor spaces as new protagonists of educational practices.

The book is a choral work, primarily by the children who attend and have attended the nursery and school for the past thirty years, and by the teachers, parents and educators who have built the park together.
