E tutti danzarono
by Bertante, Alessandro
Ivan Boscolo is a middle-aged, divorced, hypochondriac, anxious man. He believes he is unable to cope with the present. All this leads him to worry irrationally about the fate of his daughter Micol, sweet but all too fragile. His fears reach their peak when he discovers that the girl is to attend a huge rave in the centre of Milan, to which millions of young people from all over Europe are expected. The event, initiated by the city’s mayor, however, soon turns into an out-of-control bedlam, an immense chaos unleashed by a trance that seems to affect only people under thirty and that leads them to dance to the point of exhaustion without ever stopping. The confusion caused by these unrestrained dances is compounded by the riots that break out as troublemakers and thugs plan to take advantage of the confusion to sow even more panic in the streets. The violent police response only worsens the situation and soon the city turns into bedlam where everything seems to be allowed. But Ivan is ready to do anything to find and save Micol, even re-establishing relations with his ex-wife, with whom he sets off in search of his daughter in a crazy and dangerous Milan.
