Fuga dal mondo perfetto

by Zanatta, Adriano
Fuga dal mondo perfetto

Year 2045. The privileged segments of society have taken over the western part of the planet, where they have created the Perfect World, a place where organisation, rationality, wealth and technological advancement ensure its fortunate few inhabitants an extraordinary level of well-being and security. The remaining 90% of the global population, on the other hand, is concentrated in the East and is forced into the chaotic, uncertain, disorganised and dangerous life of the Free World. Contacts between the two realities are exclusively of a commercial nature, while the exchange of human resources between the two Worlds is restricted, regulated by strict laws and monitored incessantly by infallible facial recognition systems and vigilant, relentless border guards. The balance seems stable and lasting, at least until Rod – a particularly critical and dissatisfied inhabitant of the Perfect World – is given an unusual and mysterious proposal, which could change the course of his life and destabilise that of both Worlds. Adriano Zanatta’s dystopian novel is about a near future that has already crept up on us.
