Generazione R

by Pomilio, Alessandra
Generazione R

Generation R is a digital-age noir about toxic love. Light and witty, yet capable of excavating deep into our contemporary moment.
In March 2022, live before thousands of fans, a very young influencer throws herself from the balcony of Palazzo Pitti. Raised in an affluent corner of Rome, Argentina Riva-Venturi, also known as RGen, carried the heavy baggage of psychiatric hospitalizations – and a wildly successful social media career built precisely on her pathologies and treatments. She was
the spokesperson for Generation R – Rehab or Recovery: the rallying cries of resurgence from mental illness. A generation without certainties, raised by unhappy, wealthy parents.
Investigating the case is Florence’s hotheaded police chief, Inspector Valeria Mancuso – a woman made of pure rancour, with a perfect make-up. Moved by guilt, Argentina’s aloof psychiatrist, Dr. Elisa Bernabei, throws herself into the investigation as well. The two women – the doctor and the detective, night and day – are polar opposites. Yet they’re not only bound by the joint effort in Argentina’s case, but also by a story: of friendship, of pain, and of things left unspoken…

Pomilio, Alessandra

Alessandra Pomilio is a psychiatrist and psychotherapist who was born in Abruzzo.
In 2023, Generation R earned her a finalist position in the “Premio NebbiaGialla” in the category of unpublished novels. Pomilio considers her two professional roles—as a mental health practitioner and as a writer—as fundamentally interconnected: she aims to use the power of words both to heal and elevate the spirit. She believes that humour is not merely a third vocation, but a moral imperative.
