Venice: A Residency Project for Translators from Italian Language. Call for Applications
The Venice International University (www.univiu.org) and the Centro per il Libro e la Lettura (https://cepell.it/), an autonomous institute of the Italian Ministry of Culture affiliated with the Directorate-General for Libraries and Copyright, are organizing in Venice, on the campus of Venice International University on the island of San Servolo, “Residency Project for Translators from the Italian language ”, from 26 July to 23 August 2026.
The residency is open to foreign translators from Italian working in German, English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Japanese, and Arabic.
The project is part of the broader initiatives of Venice International University, while maintaining its own autonomous profile. It has also been conceived in view of the major international events and book fairs in which Italy will participate in the coming years.
The program will be directed by Giovanni Sciola, director of the Fondazione Luigi Micheletti in Brescia and former director of several Italian Cultural Institutes abroad.
During the residency period, the program will include a series of professional seminars and meetings with writers, journalists, university professors, translators, publishers, and publishing professionals. The schedule will also feature a selection of public events, organized together with the participants, connected to the activities of Venice International University and the Centro per il Libro e la Lettura
