Following the great success of the 2021 edition, Salone Internazionale del Libro announces the second edition of the conference “Dall’italiano al mondo”. The project aims at promoting and supporting all foreign translators who give voice to Italian literature, by creating a network to encourage the spread of Italian books abroad. The conference is curated by Ilide Carmignani, translator and editorial consultant of Salone del Libro. “Dall’italiano al mondo” will be held online on SalTo+ platform on Friday 11 November from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the participation is free.

The project, which is the first of this kind, has been conceived also considering the role of Italy as guest of honour at the Frankfurter Buchmesse in 2024. “Dall’italiano al mondo” intends to become the annual meeting of all translators of Italian literature, “to enhance the spread of Italian culture at an international level and the creation of a network to support the export of the Italian publishing industry. It is quite common for translators to play the role of scouts, especially for non-vehicular languages, acting as a kind of bridge for Italian books abroad, especially within smaller publishing houses”.

Dall’italiano al mondo” has been realised by Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino in collaboration with: Frankfurter Buchmesse, CEATL – Conseil Européen des Associations de Traducteurs Littéraires, FIT – Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs, PETRA-E Network, L’indiscreto magazine, Fondazione Bellonci, pordenonelegge, Andersen magazine.

The conference is open to all translators of Italian literature and Italian will be the working language. Participants will receive materials and contacts after the conference.

Registrations close on the 1st October 2022.
