Il Duca by Matteo Melchiorre nominated for the 2026 International Booker Prize
The list of candidates for the 2026 International Booker Prize has been published. It includes 13 titles, including Il Duca by Matteo Melchiorre, published by Einaudi. The International Booker Prize is an award for the best works of fiction translated into English and published in the United Kingdom or Ireland between May 2025 and April 2026.
Translated by Antonella Lettieri, Il Duca was published in English by Foundry Editions. The rights have been sold in several countries, including the Czech Republic (Argo), France (Métailié), Spain and the Spanish-speaking world (Altamarea), and Germany (Atlantis Verlag).
Currently, 13 books have been selected for the prize. On 31 March, the titles of the six finalists will be announced, and on 19 May 2026, the winner will be announced.
A prize will also be awarded for the best translation.
