New call for Translation Prizes and Contributions (MAECI)

New call for Translation Prizes and Contributions (MAECI)

The new call for Translation Prizes and Contributions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is now available at this link. The call has many new features: first and foremost, it is open to literary agencies, which together with Italian and foreign publishing houses will be able to submit their candidatures, for the benefit of the foreign publishing house with which a contract for the transfer of rights has been signed or – another interesting element that the 2023 call for applications highlights – a letter of intent.

Furthermore, the 2023 call for translations, in view of the 2024 edition of the Frankfurt Buchmesse in which Italy will be the guest of honour, pays particular attention to the German language, given that translation into this language is considered a priority in view of this important international event.

The new call for translations will expire on 5 May. As always, applications should be submitted through the Italian Cultural Institute competent for the territory in the country where the foreign publishing house that will publish the book in translation is based, or, in the absence of an IIC, at the Italian Embassy. A presentation event of the new call is planned for 10 March, within the professional programme of the Bookpride independent publishing fair in Milan.

The English texts of the call and forms are available at this link.
