The essay focuses on the ‘idea of ​​Europe’, on its identity, on its community realization in relation to the geopolitical aspects of the single ‘nation states’ that compose it. It traces its possible role in the global confrontation between the United States, China and Russia. The hypothesis is advanced that it could represent the ‘fourth side’ of the triangle that is today hegemonic on a global scale, to the extent that from an economic giant it also becomes a political giant in the international context.
