Il moto dell’effimero. Sguardi sul teatro negli spazi aperti dal Rinascimento a oggi

In today’s cultural policies, art and theatre in public spaces are increasingly relegated to the role of tools for stimulating and supporting processes of urban regeneration and social redevelopment. This instrumental view of art is currently at the center of significant national and international debate.

This volume aims to gather a range of perspectives on theatrical activity in open spaces over the past six centuries and to delve into certain aspects of this history—one made up of theatre companies and groups, of often unknown men and women.

Performing arts in public spaces remain a fleeting yet deeply rooted phenomenon, intrinsically tied to our idea of the polis and embodied by human beings across all cultures and traditions. A collective reflection on its transformative and connective function is still essential, even in the era of social media and the conception of art as mere service.
