One night, on the mountain above Cimalta, a horrible crime occurred. A slaughter doomed to ruin life in town forever. Buried impulses and primordial fears suddenly find their way and let the hunt begin. The beast needs to be found. While rifles shoot, the lives of four men, upon which the claws of the killers have left the deepest scar, intertwine: the powerful mayor who dreams of the highest seat in the regional council; an esteemed heart surgeon who dreams of becoming head physician; a local police chief who dreams of becoming police commissioner; a rebellious priest who dreams of restoring faith in God. And when the hunters will inevitably close around the monster, it could be too late for everybody to understand that they are all meant to lose in this game, and that each predator, either man or beast, risks becoming a pray himself, sooner or later.
