Il western in Italia – Cinema, musica, letteratura, e fumetto

When we think about how Italy told the West we immediately remind of the sunny Spanish landscapes of spaghetti westerns and the black and white tables of Tex. But if we focus we will see how Italy has produced, since the late Nineteenth century, the largest reworking of the myth of American foundation that has ever been seen outside the United States. This book attempts to deepen all the souls of the \’American genre par excellence\’ as it has been reinvented in our country: from the first shows of Buffalo Bill to Salgari’s novels, passing through the silent cinema and opera and arriving at light music and board games. Without forgetting, of course, Sergio Leone and Gian Luigi Bonelli.

Matteo Pollone, professor at the Dams of the University of Turin, is author and editor of several essays dedicated to Western and Italian comics.
