Emanuele Luzzati (più conosciuto con il diminutivo Lele) è nato nel 1921 a Genova, dove si è spento nel gennaio 2007. Di origini ebraiche, è costretto a fuggire dall’Italia per via delle leggi razziali, diplomandosi all’Ecole des Beaux Arts di Losanna in Svizzera. Di ritorno in Italia nel 1945, inizia la sua prestigiosa carriera teatrale come scenografo e costumista, cui affianca anche l’attività in diversi campi artistici: è stato infatti ceramista, regista di film d’animazione e illustratore di libri per bambini e ragazzi celebri in tutto il mondo. Nel 1992 gli viene conferita la laurea honoris causa in Architettura dall’Università di Genova e nel 1995 riceve il Premio Ubu per la migliore scenografia dell’anno per le scene del Pinocchio del Teatro della Tosse di Genova. Ha ricevuto due nomination agli Oscar per i film d’animazione La gazza ladra del 1964 e Pulcinella del 1974.

Lele Luzzati (Genoa, 1921-2007) was an Italian painter, production designer, illustrator, film director and animator. He was nominated for Academy Awards for 2 of his short films, La gazza ladra (The Thieving Magpie) (1965) and Pulcinella (1973). He was born in Genoa and turned to drawing in 1938 when, as a Jew, his academic studies were interrupted by the introduction of the Fascist Racial Laws. He moved to Switzerland with his family and studied in Lausanne, where he obtained his degree at the local École des Beaux-Arts. He designed his first production of Solomon and the Queen of Sheba in 1944, a collaboration with his friends Alessandro Fersen, Aldo Trionfo and Guido Lopez. He returned to Italy after the war. His first work as an animator was the short film I paladini di Francia, together with Giulio Gianini, in 1960, which signs the beginning of a collaboration that lasted until 2007. He provided designs for the London Festival Ballet, the Chicago Opera House, the Vienna Staatsoper and the Glyndebourne Festival, including several Mozart productions and Verdi’s Macbeth produced by Michael Hadjimischev in 1972.

埃马努埃莱·卢扎蒂（昵称“乐乐”），1921年出生于热那亚，2007年1月去世。他出身犹太家庭，因意大利种族法案被迫逃离祖国，毕业于瑞士洛桑美术学院。1945年回到意大利后，他作为舞台布景和服装设计师，开启了自己辉煌的戏剧生涯。同时，他还涉猎多个艺术领域：不仅是陶艺家，还是动画电影导演，及享誉全球的儿童与青少年图书插画家。1992年，他被热那亚大学授予荣誉建筑学博士学位。1995年，他凭借为热那亚托塞剧院《木偶奇遇记》设计的舞台布景荣获乌布奖“年度最佳舞美奖”。他执导的动画电影《贼鸦》（1964年）和《普尔契内拉》（1974年）均获奥斯卡最佳动画短片提名。

Opere edite da Interlinea sono state finalisti in oltre cinquanta premi, tra cui il premio Viareggio, Strega, Bancarella e Grinzane. Nell’anno 2006 Interlinea è stata insignita, per la propria attività nel settore editoriale, del Premio Nazionale Cultura della Presidenza del Consiglio. Dal 1995 la casa editrice promuove il premio letterario “Storia di Natale” di letteratura per l’infanzia, con una collana dedicata al tema, “Le rane piccole”, nella convinzione che il Natale sia nel cuore di tutti, al di là dell’età, delle convizioni religiose e della nazionalità.
