La carità ha vinto la guerra
by Mazzolari, PrimoLa carità ha vinto la guerra is a lively and thought-provoking work written by Don Primo under unusual circumstances. In 1955, Mazzolari was invited to write a piece on the Pope’s beneficence in honour of Pius XII, which he completed between his parish and Rome. A work intended to exalt the Vatican’s contribution to Italy’s postwar revival, Don Mazzolari goes beyond not only its apologetic intention, but also beyond factual reconstruction, resulting in both a wholehearted exaltation of charity and a valuable insight into a troubled period in Italian history.
