La mascolinità nella letteratura e nelle arti. Decostruzione/evoluzione di modelli identitari

La mascolinità nella letteratura e nelle arti. Decostruzione/evoluzione di modelli identitari (Masculinity in literature and the arts. Deconstruction/evolution of identity models) is a collection of essays that explores representations of masculinity in different cultures, eras and media. The introduction traces the emergence of Masculinity Studies and addresses the “crisis of masculinity”, a central theme in contemporary debate. The thirteen essays analyse the role of the arts in challenging hegemonic male models, showing how masculinity is a fluid concept, oscillating between conservation and transformation. Male identity is explored through processes of deconstruction and reconstruction, with approaches ranging from literature to cinema and advertising. The volume thus offers a plural and interdisciplinary perspective on the redefinition of masculinity over the last three centuries, highlighting the effectiveness of artistic narratives in rethinking gender roles.
