La torre segreta delle aquile

by Simoni, Marcello
La torre segreta delle aquile

The year 1127. The north-western coast of Sicily. Two families of Norman descent, one Christian and the other pagan, one with ties to Sicily and the other to the French county of Évreux, are about to see their destinies intertwined. The encounter takes place under the scorching Mediterranean sun, on the beach at Sagitta Castle. On one side, Baron Galgano and his daughter Altruda, lords of those lands. On the other, three siblings who have just disembarked from a ship with a dragon’s head: the young Folco, the middle-aged Fresenda and a baby still in swaddling clothes named Abelardo. Against a backdrop of a world dominated by wars, betrayals and dynastic tensions, the new arrivals must quickly adapt to the power games of the Normans of Sicily to find a place in that kingdom of treacherous beauty. But for the courageous Folco of Évreux, marrying Altruda will not be enough to secure a future for his kin. Baron Galgano is, in fact, a man of many secrets. The most terrifying of these lies hidden in the oldest tower of his castle.
