L’infinito viaggiare. Abramo e Ulisse

by Monti Ludwig, Salvarani Brunetto
L’infinito viaggiare. Abramo e Ulisse

There are journeys that leave no trace; one departs and then returns as before, or even impoverished and at times empty. Transformation yes, but at a loss. Other journeys, on the other hand, are cause for an enriching transformation: our very life is modified unexpectedly. Abraham is called to walk, to go towards a land he knows not, but departing from himself and walking towards himself, beginning a path of interior discovery. The route will consist of geographical itineraries, discoveries, human and spiritual experiences, between a promised land to receive and a desired son.Ulysses, as opposed to Abraham who must find his way by walking it, returns to his home in Ithaca travelling by sea, an impervious and dangerous element, experiencing a multiplicity of marvelous events guided by his virtue and knowledge. In the end, both journeys grapple with the sacred. Abraham comprehends this through listening, obedience and faith in God. Ulysses through the tormented search for his very humanity.
