Memorie della casa terrana

In beautiful weather, with 17th century Sicily as a background, we explore the saga of the Alessi, the Guzzardi, and the Mazzara families. Enrichetta has the capability to interact with her ancestors’ ghosts; while her twin Lucrezia, on the other hand, is too attached to the materialistic world and in her inner loneliness she toggles between depression and manic hyperactivity. The story of the twins bonds to those of other characters, among loves, weddings, segregations, the shaman’s prophecies, the philosopher beggar’s judgments, the Plague, commercial enterprises, and disputed legacies.Existence is always the same in the little town, with its alleys, stairs, courtyards, buildings, dilapidated houses, and the forum square, where ancient traditions are still fulfilled. This world, like many others, lives in affliction, thinking that it will never end. However, the imponderable is always lurking: it transcends human vanity and illusions, and only the memories’ creative magic can save the memoir of the little town and the old house.

Nino Tribulato (1947) was born and still lives in Lentini, practicing law. Memorie della casa terrana is his debut novel, and it received an honorable mention by the jury of Il Borgo Italiano 2022 book festival – Lanzo Torinese’s town.
