Salento. Itineraries and Hiking Tours

This guide, with its suggestions regarding the places you should not miss, is a practical and handy tool to be used whenever needed during your journey. The Salento region is full of little villages and hamlets, which is why in a few cases some itineraries may look a bit full of halts. However, the reader-visitor can freely choose to split and/or combine the portions according to the time available, personal needs and wishes. The province of Lecce was split into four large itineraries generally running north-south.After the city tour of Lecce, the first road trip leads to the Adriatic coast from San Cataldo down to Santa Maria di Leuca. The next itinerary follows the Ionian shore from the Finibus Terrae cape up north to Porto Cesareo to the border with the province of Taranto. The first inland route covers the countryside north of Lecce across the Tavoliere Messapico and reaches as far south as the linguistic and cultural enclave of the Grecìa Salentina, just south of Lecce. The second inland itinerary leads from the surroundings of Nardò over the low ridges of the Serre Salentine. The last trip starts from Maglie and ends at Capo di Leuca passing across the countryside along the southern Adriatic coast.
