La scienza governata. Saggio sul triangolo scienze/tecniche/potere

The feverish utilitarianism that guides the government of knowledge today is endangering scientific research. The liberal management imposed on scientific institutions risks reducing science to technoscience: project funding, short-term quantitative evaluations, exacerbation of competition, self-proclaimed excellence branding and career insecurity are just some of the aspects of the governance of knowledge that today must be subjected to the scrutiny of critical knowledge. The present essay is not satisfied with simply describing these specific forms of neoliberal abuse: it is a lively and committed appeal for the primary vocation of the knowledge enterprise, which is incompatible with the logic of profit and submission to economic and political powers.

Jean-Paul Malrieu was born on July 4, 1934 in Colmar, France. Research director at CNRS IRSAMC, at the Paul Sabatier University of Toulouse, he has been involved in chemistry and theoretical physics.
