Lucia’s life changes suddenly when her family decides to move into her great-grandmother’s house. It is one of those family decisions she finds incomprehensible and unreasonable, much like the rule forbidding all women in the family line from owning sharp objects. Lucia breaks the ban for the first time by keeping a brooch she found at the bottom of one of her great-grandmother’s drawers. From that moment on, however, strange events begin to unfold. The mysteries become increasingly frequent and frightening, to the point where Lucia begins to sense a link between the brooch and the history of her ancestors. As she delves into her family history, she learns that all the men in the family have died violent deaths: stabbed or impaled. And her mum is now pregnant with a boy. With the help of Egle, her elderly neighbour, Lucia will discover the existence of a curse to which her entire lineage has fallen victim. Will she manage to break it?
