Storia del nuovo cognome. L’amica geniale. Vol. 2

by Ferrante, Elena
Storia del nuovo cognome. L’amica geniale. Vol. 2

“I realised that I had come all that way full of pride, and I realised that – in good faith, of course, and with affection – I had made the whole journey mainly to show her what she had lost and what I had gained. She had, of course, realised this from the moment I appeared before her, and now she was reacting by explaining to me, in effect, that I had won nothing, that there was nothing in the world to be won, that her life was full of adventures just as varied and reckless as mine, and that time simply slipped away without any meaning, and that the only joy was seeing each other every now and then to hear the mad sound of one’s mind echoing within the mad sound of the other’s mind’. Here is The Story of a New Name, the second novel in the My Brilliant Friend series. You’ll immediately recognise Lila and Elena, their love-hate relationship, and the inextricable intertwining of dependence and the desire for self-assertion.
