Senza mai toccare terra
by Cabiati, Elena
Viola and her mother Giulia return after many years to the seaside villa inherited from their great-aunt Olga. Giulia has lost her job and is forced to try to sell the house to cope with financial difficulties. Viola is sixteen, feels dragged there by her mother’s failures, is angry, and hides other wounds in her heart. In the house and garden, everything is in disarray and in need of fixing: from the very beginning, the work proves to be demanding and longer than expected. The two women struggle to adapt to their new life and surroundings, until one day Viola feels that one of the many paintings on the walls, a work by great-aunt Olga, is speaking to her.
Senza mai toccare terra (Without Ever Touching the Ground) is a modern fairy tale, but also a coming-of-age novel and an adventure that walks the line between life’s difficulties and the world of imagination.
