La regina delle api

by Sesino, Beatrice
La regina delle api

The queen bee is a mystery-thriller on crazy swarms of bees, brotherhood and cold cases.

Thirteen-year-old Giacomo loves Poggiovelato, a small village in the hills of Tuscany where he goes every summer with his family and where he meets up with Nicole, Cosimo, and Sebastiano, his best friends. Between bike rides and shelters built in the woods, the days pass carefree until, during a night in a tent, Giordi, Giacomo’s hypersensitive little brother, disappears. He reappears the next evening out of nowhere, but he no longer seems to be the same child: his pupils are dilated, he speaks in a strange voice, and he confides in his brother that there is someone in the woods who needs to be saved. Giacomo plucks up his courage and, together with his friends, finds himself investigating strange deaths, swarms of crazy bees, and a mysterious disappearance that took place many years earlier. Driven by the desire to discover the truth and see his little brother get better, Giacomo will face his fears and come to terms with a past darker than he could have imagined.
