Primamà

by Pariani, Laura
Primamà

After the death of the millennial Adam, Eve—the Primamà, the first woman—remains alone in the land of Senzanome to tell stories, heal with herbs, and shape the deceased in clay. Her ancient and wise voice travels back through the centuries and rewrites the genesis of the world from a new perspective: that of women, of the feminine spirit that flows through the earth, water, and memory. In a village suspended in time, where men worship a punitive god and women entrust themselves to the Mamagrànda of the underworld, Primamà opposes the patriarchal order by teaching young women to listen, accompanying them on the paths of imagination and freedom. In her “stories-belòrie”—in which myth merges with reality and the present can explain the past—we find the faces of grandmothers of all times, their expertise in misfortune and hope, their wisdom in preserving stories, and their ancient faith to turn to in times of need. Primamà is a millennial Eve who tries to resist, remember, and pass on her knowledge, the protagonist of a subversive novel about the power of words, a story of rebellion that rewrites the entire history of the world as if it were that of each of us. A hymn to feminine energy, to storytelling as an act of resistance, and to the possibility of a new beginning.
