Orlando. Una storia di Virginia Woolf
by Masini, Beatrice
The extraordinary adventures of Orlando, a young poet protected by Queen Elizabeth I, who appoints him ambassador. The story flies beyond time, spanning nearly four centuries. Orlando will not only live through different lives in various fascinating historical eras, but they will also change sex, becoming a woman after seven consecutive days of sleep in Constantinople.
After joining a caravan of gypsies, Orlando eventually returns to London, first reliving the atmosphere of the early eighteenth century, during the time of Queen Anne, and later that of Romanticism, up to the early 1920s, always in pursuit of true love and the deeper meaning of poetry, and always driven by the desire to write and to keep changing.
