Why do we suffer? It is perhaps the first and greatest question that humanity asks itself when faced with the countless forms that evil can take in the course of life. For believers, this question is weighed down by the distressing thought of a God who permits it: if God is good, why does he allow the innocent to suffer? Biblical scholar Luca Mazzinghi and philosopher Andrea Di Maio set out in search of possible answers by re-reading the Book of Job, the biblical text that, more than any other, reflects on the mystery of evil.
