A dolor del vero
by Chinzari, Ilaria
Chiara investigates to uncover more about her family’s history, which contains some dark and unclear points. During her research, a few fragments of an uncomfortable truth emerge, intertwining various elements: the forged documents issued by Bishop Hudal to help Nazi criminals escape from Italy, the secret plans of the Japanese Naval Embassy in Merano, and an unresolved incident involving a relative of Chiara’s that occurred shortly before the outbreak of World War II.
All of this is shrouded in an impenetrable veil of lies, spread to protect the family’s honor—an ancient and painful sentiment that the protagonist will find herself forced to decide whether to uphold, even at the risk of compromising the truth.

Chinzari, Ilaria
Ilaria Chinzari was born in Rome near Porta Portese, in the years Baglioni sang of. She has a degree but prefers to remember certificates from a ceramics course and a Reiki class, and a portrait made by a friend in 1992. She loves volleyball and mountain walks. She writes at night, from one to three, to fight insomnia: writing is her only way to control a dream, from beginning to end, without surprises.
