Abbecedari architettonici

by Polano Sergio
Abbecedari architettonici

“L’architecture commença comme toute écriture. Elle fut d’abord alphabet” – proclaimed in 1832 Victor Hugo: the updated edition of Sergio Polano’s essay returns to illuminate one of the little-visible corners of the variegated complex that we call the “abbecedario”. We are talking about its architectural component, apparently exotic but actually co-existing, in curious and sometimes bizarre forms, since the earliest, printed repertories, to limit ourselves to them.
