Dentro le mura. Viaggio intorno agli adolescenti di oggi tra disagio, carcere e dissenso

Dentro le mura. Viaggio intorno agli adolescenti di oggi tra disagio, carcere e dissenso

Dentro le mura (Inside the Walls) is a journey into one of the most challenging realities of contemporary adolescence—a world marked by hardship, violence, marginalization, and the longing for a future. Through true stories, statistics, and firsthand accounts, Antonella Inverno explores the places where young people come into contact with the justice system, recounting what happens both inside and outside juvenile detention centers.
At the heart of the book are these young people: those who have gone through difficult experiences and who are trying—though not always successfully—to find an alternative. Accompanying them on this journey are the social workers who are trying to rebuild connections and restore hope within a system that is currently struggling.
In recent years, as youth distress has become an increasingly urgent issue, public responses have focused largely on control and security measures. But what really happens when we respond to distress with control? And what do these stories tell us about the world that adults have built?
What emerges is a lucid and empathetic portrait of a generation that has grown up amid hyperconnectivity and precariousness—a generation marked by loneliness and fragility, yet still capable of seeking meaning, relationships, and change.
Dentro le mura does not offer solutions, but it reveals complexity: the complexity of young men and women who, caught between resignation, anger, and hope for a better future, continue to demand to be heard.
