How contagion works, Paolo Giordano’s essay is translated into Arabic

The Italian Cultural Institute of the United Arab Emirates has promoted the Arabic translation of Paolo Giordano’s essay How contagion works (Turin, Einaudi, 2020).

“Count the days. Purchase a wise heart. Do not allow all this suffering to pass in vain. ”
How contagion works end with this lesson; it is a precious booklet of chronicles and reflections on the pandemic, published by Giulio Einaudi Editore in March 2020. Its author, Paolo Giordano, won the Strega Prize and the Campiello Prize in 2008 with The Solitude of Prime Numbers.

Thanks to the promotional activity of the Italian Institute of Culture in the United Arab Emirates, How Contagion works is also now being printed into Arabic by Kalima, the translation arm of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The director of the Institute, Ida Zilio Grandi, hopes that this translation will inaugurate a fruitful collaboration in view of an organic project that aims to disseminate the greatest Italian narrative from the last decades into Arabic.
The presentation of the volume, in the presence of the Italian and Emirati authors and publishers, is expected in the premises of the new IIC in Abu Dhabi next October, in the context of a wider event on Italian resilience at the time of the coronavirus.
