Attempting to plunder the Floating Burrow is already a far greater gamble than one might imagine, even for that ill-mannered goblin, but doing so in the hope of finding the legendary Wreck of Marvin – which sank with a cargo capable of making the whole sea glisten with gold – is sheer madness. Even the enigmatic yet captivating Marigold is convinced it really exists, to the point of persuading Captain Karjack and his accomplice Susan to set off in pursuit of the treasure, guided only by the verses of an old song. And so it all begins: with a sea shanty, a glimmer of hope and a compass forgotten in the ship’s chest, a legacy of bygone days. The oddest crew in all of Vespria sets sail on a treasure hunt that will take them across the sea, down rivers and even into the marshes from which the mysterious Shellwood Forest springs. On the Burrow, everyone is chasing something worth far more than gold and the mere whim of greed. And no, the secret at the bottom of the sea isn’t friendship. However, the crew members are not the only ones embarking on this venture. Others are at work in the shadows, tailing them and sometimes advising them, driven by interests that go far beyond simply scraping together a bit of wealth. A challenge without maps or rules, with the bow set towards the frontiers lapped by mist and the unknown. What truly lies in wait, chained to the depths? Why does the name ‘The Chipped One’ weigh like a curse? And how on earth do you silence that damned cameo? To discover what becomes of the most adrenaline-fuelled treasure hunt in all of Vespria, all you have to do is set sail… and, just in case, take a ‘scratch-an-ankle’ to suck on during the journey. Perhaps even a couple of prawns, to be fried strictly as Saint Krysella commands.
