Poems are “useful,” “spoken,” “repeated”… This is what we were taught until a few decades ago, ignoring the wonderful and creative anarchy of childhood, its freedom, its naiveté, its exuberance, its desire to explore, as if the beginning of life were a void to be filled, as if poems were for children but not by children. But poets, writers, educators, and teachers like Rodari, Calvino, Koch, Caproni, Friot, Lodi, Zamponi, and Tognolini stood by the little ones and listened to their words, discovering that they could be poets alongside them.
