Il treno della memoria. In viaggio per diventare i testimoni di domani
by Tosa, Lorenzo, Paticchio, Paolo
Twenty years after the birth of the project The Memory Train and 80 years after the opening of the gates of Auschwitz, a two-part book that tells the story of the Holocaust and reflects on the importance of passing on its history to children.
Lorenzo Tosa and Paolo Paticchio retrace the journey of millions of deported Jews in chapters following the stages of the memory train: Krakow, The Jewish Ghetto, the Schindler Factory, the arrival at Auschwitz-Birkenau, life in the concentration camp, the Escape and the Death March. Alternating stories of yesterday and today, the authors lead us to the birth of the current charter of human rights.
Intended for readers of what will be the first generation without direct witnesses to the Holocaust, a book that aims to form “witnesses of witnesses”, individuals who know how to pass on and want to preserve the world we inherited through the sacrifice of many, because living in this present is not a blessing: it is our responsibility to protect it and fight to defend the conquered humanity.
