Italian children’s publishing and the China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair
A showcase of titles curated by newitalianbooks

newitalianbooks is dedicating a special trilingual showcase (Italian, English, Chinese) to Italian children’s books on the occasion of the 12th edition of the China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair (14-16 November 2025). In response to last April’s call, more than 60 agents and publishers submitted a total of 180 book profiles. Each profile includes the book cover, a description of the content, a list of awards received and translations already made, as well as the contact details of the rights manager.

This initiative was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Italian diplomatic and cultural network in China, particularly the Italian Cultural Institute in Shanghai, which ensured the translation of all texts into Chinese, and the Italian Publishers Association.

newitalianbooks is a project promoted by Treccani with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Centre for Books and Reading (Ministry of Culture) and the Lauro Chiazzese Foundation for Art and Culture, in collaboration with the Italian Publishers Association.
