1922. Who is Giuseppe, known as ‘Calabrese’? Who is there behind the massacre of an entire family? The life of the characters involved in the most brutal crime that Capaccio’s history remembers is narrated in the background of a town from the dawn of Fascism to the first years of the economic boom, going from the Ventennio to the horrors of the War. A cruel and beautiful country, where the peasant reality has to reckon with hunger and malaria, where stereotypes and ignorance prevail over truth and justice.

Matteo Dello Schiavo was born in Naples in 1968, but his family is from Capaccio (in the province of Salerno, in the Campania region of south-western Italy), where he lives. He followed classical studies, has a degree in Economics and is an inspector in the Guardia di Finanza (the Italian finance police). Married to Maria, he has two children of whom he is very proud.
