La Città degli esclusi
by Ciaramelli, FabioThe urban model, which attracts more and more people to the urban areas of the planet, continues to promise integration and emancipation, even though it has exhausted its capacity
for inclusion.
Pandemics and war have disproportionately increased social inequalities. In this way, cities are transformed from places of exchange and coexistence of the different into closed spaces, materially and symbolically reserved for certain categories of ‘safe’ people, but at the same time
traversed by the violence of irreconcilable conflicts. Between post-pandemic emergencies
and the aftermath of war, the new datum on which we need to reflect is the emergence of cities without citizenship.
The imaginary of exclusion that dominates them leads to dangerous forms of self-destructive short-sightedness, which this book seeks to analyse, denounce and, as far as possible, counter.
