The dog Romy, at first taken care of and loved by his owners, is suddenly abandoned along the road and ends up in a dog kennel.  Unable to accept it, he reacts only after meeting Lietta, a crippled dog that has lived there for many years.  They become very fond of each other, but unfortunately destiny soon separates them: Romy knows hunger, fear and human cruelty, but also the affection of a new family and above all of Sara, a disabled girl that becomes an inseparable friend; Lietta is also adopted and leaves the kennel. After many adventures, thanks to the dreams that tie them, the two dogs manage in the end, to find each other again.

Winner of two literary awards, the book is recommended for children from 9+ year olds.


Franca Monticello was born and lives in a small town in the north of Italy. She taught in school with great passion and has remained linked to children to whom most of her works are dedicated.  She has published 20 books for children by various editors (EdiGiò, Kimerik, Il Ciliegio, Edizioni Paoline, La Compagnia del libro) Her works for children and adults are published in 80 anthologies.
