La signora delle merci. Dalle caravelle ad Amazon. Come la logistica governa il mondo

by Alemanni Cesare
La signora delle merci. Dalle caravelle ad Amazon. Come la logistica governa il mondo

From e-commerce to warfare, from large-scale distribution to vaccines: it is logistics that think about how our lives move. Behind every object there is a story: how it was born, on which roads it has travelled, through which infrastructures it has passed. Cesare Alemanni tells us about the fascinating world of logistics. What do Lego bricks and containers have in common? Why did Amazon start by selling books? How is the logistical evolution connected to increasing economic inequality? Why has China been called a ‘logistics empire’? What is the role of ports in world history? By reconstructing the stories of incredible ideas and characters, La Signora delle merci restores the deep meaning of goods travel, allowing us to better understand our societies’ past and present.
